Applications open for the Adapted Program in Pediatric Oncology Surgery Education (APPOSE) Fellowship

Dear Program members,

We are excited to announce that applications for the Adapted Program in Pediatric Oncology Surgery Education (APPOSE) Fellowship 2026-2028 cohort is live and available until January 30th, 2026.

This two-year fellowship offers theoretical-based learning and integrates online study, on-site observation, hands-on training, and mentorship. 

The APPOSE Fellowship aims to develop and implement an innovative training strategy to maximize resources and leverage global mentors to improve access to quality onco-surgery services in resource limited settings. This mentorship program offers: 

  • Expert clinical guidance
  • Career mentorship with local and global mentors
  • Theoretical-based learning through online study and onsite observation
  • Virtual participation in regular multidisciplinary and surgical conferences, tumor boards and discussions
  • In the second year, fellows travel to a regional, high volume pediatric oncology center to take part in a year-long hands-on training with their assigned global mentor

The Program aims to have candidates who are heavily supported by their local institution to lead pediatric surgical oncology efforts after the completion of training.

Applicants are required to submit the following documents and then interviews will be arranged in February/March:

  • Statement of support from ministry of health 
  • Statement of support hospital/institution of employment
  • Professional letter of recommendation 
  • Headshot Photo 
  • Picture of Official ID 
  • Name and contact info of local surgeon who agrees to serve as local mentor throughout the program
